Woot! is a great website (with which we have no affiliation) that offers great deals on a single product each day. On some special days, a "WootOff" occurs. During a WootOff, products are sold until they run out, then a new product is immediately offered.
WootOffs last 24-72 hours. The "goal" is to get as many good deals as possible, and possibly get a "Bag of Crap". A "BoC" contains, well, mostly random junk (see BagOfCrap.com) but sometimes a Wooter gets lucky and gets a nice surprise. BoCs go for $1 apiece, which has now been automated to give every buyer 3, so in actuality each purchase costs $3 for 3 BoCs + $5 shipping (for a total price of $8). To check and see if the BOC has been offered yet, you can just click on the 'Community' link at the top of any Woot! page. That will give you a list of all of the items sold so far. If you don't see a BOC, it hasn't been offered yet. No, there is not ALWAYS a BoC during a WootOff (see 07/29-30/08 & the short 24 hr Wootoff on 06/23/09). Sometimes they (Woot!) end with condoms, vibrators, bacon salt, screaming monkeys, and kites. Be warned. There are trackers and web browser add-ins that will show you how many items are left, play a sound when a new item comes up (especially the BOC), estimate the time left per item, and much more. Finally, Woot! has a language filter (a.k.a.: Woot word replacer, Woot word replacement, Woot word filter or just Woot filter) in their forums that turns some words into others. We have a similar filter on this forum, but we don't really use it. A running list of the Woot! filters will be kept below (and is really the sole reason I created this area--I got tired of re-posting the list in the forums). If you see one missing, post it in the thread below (click "reply" if it's during a WootOff, otherwise you'll have to log in) and we'll add it to this master list. To see what a Wooter really typed, just click the 'Reply' link in their post. The actual text will be displayed on the 'Reply' screen. Also, feel free to post anything you want to about your Woot! experiences here as well, or just click here for our main page. If you mouse-over this box, it will tell you how many Woots (separate purchases) a person has made. Clear = none, Orange = one, Blue = 3-10, Red = 11-25, Black = more than 25. All Woot! sites seem to be included in the total, but it's counted per order, not per item (if you buy 3 widgets today and then 2 thingys tomorrow, that's still only 2 Woots, even though you received 5 items.) Ok, apparently you have to log in to post [working on it--nevermind, WootOff is over anyway]. It's not a big deal, just a standard email-return form to make sure you're not a 'bot. I'd suggest www.endjunk.com if you don't want to share your real email address. Or you could just read our ToS (It's a link at the top of the page, near the left) and decide to trust us. I'd use a proxy email addy myself though. You can't be too careful on the internet.
